The Jewish Museum

Designed by the famous architect, Charles P.H. Gilbert, and completed in 1908, the mansion has been home to the Museum since 1947.

art in America

The YIVO Institute

Now Vilnius, Lithuania, the YIVO institute left Vilna, Poland in 1925 for America.  Focused on the history of Ashkenazi Jewry, and its influence in the Americas. In addition, the museum now offers a dedicated area on history and culture of the Sephardim.

360,000 artifacts, which include, film, books, sound recordings and
manuscripts in 12 major languages.
Multi-disciplinary exhibits which include art, photographs
and artifacts of Jewish culture.
